Every now and then we need to give our club a good once-over to get rid of unnecessary items, clean out areas not seen since time began, patch things, and just generally make the club a cleaner place. After all, Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club is one of the most beautiful clubs in the US and it would make sense if our clubhouse and grounds reflected that.
So, the board decided to encourage member participation, make a fun event out of it, and call it the Tidy Bowl (which we all thought was clever). The event is timed to coincide with our normal Saturday Social Bowl. The idea is that everybody shows up at 9:00 with cleaning supplies (that you know how to use), tidy the clubhouse and grounds, have a social bowl, and follow it up with a BBQ of some kind provided free of charge to tidiers by the club.
Those wishing just to bowl, show up a bit later at 10:30am for a 10:45am Social Bowl. There will be a charge of $10 for non-tidiers wishing to join in the BBQ.
Here's the itinerary:
Send an Email to the club that you'll be participating so the club knows how much food to purchase and serve. Tell us if you'll be a tidier or not.
Just show up. Pizza served following the game.

Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club's annual Open House will be held on Saturday May 11 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This is where we open the club to the general public for them to try out the game of bowls, most of them for the first time. This is a big event and another opportunity to sign up new members for the rest of the year. The dues are prorated and initiation fees waived, so it is also good value for new members. Send an Email to your friends and co-workers. What a deal!
We already have a list of volunteers who have signed up, but we can always use more! If you're still interested in helping, click on any of the links below to send the club an email. Plus, you'll probably meet some new club members. Volunteers get food and drink.
We'll get in touch with you prior to May 11 to give you the specifics.
The AGM is LBLBC's Annual General Meeting and it is basically a State of the Club address to its members. You find out what was done in 2019, what we're planning in 2020, and you get to ask questions should you have any.
In addition, because the Holidays are so busy, the club has decided to combine the AGM with a Holiday Party and Social Bowl. Like last year, the club will be footing the bill for an exquisite lunch, courtesy of Boston Market .
It'll cost you nothing (free!) if you show up for the AGM. For guests and those that don't show up for the AGM, it's $10.00.
Here's the itinerary:
Additionally, Linda Roberts will agree to be Secretary (non-voting).
Members will vote to elect members to the board at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 10:00am (here at the club).
Additional nominees may be proposed via petition naming the nominee signed by 10 members of LBLBC in good standing. This petition must be posted at the club bulletin board 5 days before the AGM, or December 3, 2019.
Respectfully:
Bruce Wheeler, Colleen Jenkins, Jerry Stewart, Linda Roberts, & Mary Spease.

Dorothy Pinnella is coordinating people bringing dishes to the party. Just Email her by Wed, Dec 5th.
Here's the itinerary:
Please let us know that you'll be attending so the club knows how much food to serve. Send an Email to Dorothy.
We realize that its not back to play as usual, but we must be respectful of one another and compliant with the city’s and club's mandates. Any violations to the guidelines will be subject to a one month suspension.
Had a good turnout for the Blind draw event. Had some excellent Costco Pizza and salads for just $5.
If anyone took pictures, send them to lblawnbowlingclub@gmail.com and we'll post them!
Abe Pinnella hosted a Valentine day lunch and bowl on Saturday Feb 17th. For 5 bucks, we bowled, had hamburgers, hot dogs, and Costco Chocolate Cake for dessert.
Arrived at 12:45pm, bowled from 1:00 - 3:00, and BBQed after!
Thanks for organizing this Abe! A good time was had by all.

Approximately 50 bowlers and diners attended our 2018 Persian Night hosted by Abe and Dorothy Pinnella. At a cost of $15 per person, wow what a great meal and value.
Check out some pics of the event.
